Dexter Wansel
Dexter Wansel, musician and songwriter, known for his contributions to the Philly Sound and his work with Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff of Philadelphia International Records, is heading to Mars. The artist behind the celebrated album Life on Mars will be heading to the Red Planet via the InSight Mars Lander.

The Robinson Family Aerospace Mission submitted Dexter Wansel’s name aboard the InSight Mars Lander’s silica microchip to recognize Wansel for his catalog of music, his foundation in the Philly Sound, and his work with artists such as Patti Labelle, The Jacksons, Lou Rawls, The Stylistics’, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Phyllis Hyman, and more.
InSight Mars Lander is a NASA mission “designed to give the Red Planet its first thorough checkup since it formed 4.5 billion years ago. It is the first outer space robotic explorer to study in-depth the “inner space” of Mars: its crust, mantle, and core.” – NASA | Mars InSight Mission.
InSight will be landing on Mars on Nov. 26, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. ET (12:00 p.m. PT).
